Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame 7th Annual Induction Gala Becomes the First Canadian Gala to be Shot in 3D

Toronto. ON – Canamedia On April 2, 2011, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (CSHF) /Le panthéon des auteurs et compositeurs canadiens (PACC) held its annual gala at the George Weston Recital Hall, Toronto Centre for the Arts. The two-hour celebration of Canadian songwriters was shot in 3D by Canamedia, a first for any Canadian gala. The two-hour event featured performers such as Daniel Lanois and Eric Lapointe paying tribute to the 2011 inductees that included Robbie Robertson and Luc Plamondon.

"By shooting the CSHF gala in 3D, we have ensured that we are not only recording a significant piece of Canadian musical history, but we are 'future-proofing' our archival footage and continuing to be relevant by staying ahead of the technological curve," says Dominic Denny, executive director, CSHF. "Our goal is to create content that has a substantial technological shelf-life. The Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) has recently provided the CSHF with funding through its Creative Cluster Program to help build a physical hall of fame at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. This 3D footage can be utilized within the hall of fame and on multi-media platforms, enabling us to share Canada's musical legacy and educating future generations about our rich songwriting heritage."

Overseeing the five-camera shoot was Canamedia, one of Canada's longest established distribution and production companies. Canamedia is part of a growing enterprise that offers all aspects of content distribution worldwide, production and production services. "This is the year of the 3D technological explosion," says Daniel D'or, Executive Producer, Content Development, Canamedia. "It only makes sense to stockpile 3D content to fulfill the inevitable demand by broadcasters that will take place over the next few years." D'or also served as producer and director for the 2011 CSHF gala shoot.
