TAKE OFF
26 x 30'

Take Off is the multi-award winning innovative children's TV series that takes off on dramatic adventures inside themes. Each episode combines drama, music, art work, childrens' humour, science, story telling and more.

Targeted at children aged six to eleven, TAKE OFF is the first drama series that is "ideas" driven rather than "plot" driven. The aim of this "evergreen" series is to encourage children to think laterally and help them retain their natural creativity.

In all 26 episodes the central characters in the series are kids who range in age from nine to sixteen years old. They come from a mix of racial and ethnic backgrounds.

Each half hour episode consists of dramatic adventures that explore a different theme such as Dreams, Rhythm, Order & Chaos, Ideas, Colour, Images, Boundaries and Justice.

The program starts with a reality based situation from which the children "take off" into their idea adventure. This opener serves to introduce both the episodic theme and a starting place from which to let the children's imagination run loose.
From episode 14 onwards the series also has a "back story". The children's overgrown city lot from where their magical adventures take place is about to be built on. A local developer has decided to erect condominiums on the site. The children want to stop this development and over the last thirteen episodes they manage to do just that with the help of an old man who appears in some of their adventures back in time.

During the series the children meet many famous people from the past and the future. They use what they learn from them to solve a problem they are having in their adventure.

The much praised visual splendour of the series is created through the magic of chromavision. This process enables the characters in live action to move through and interact with graphic sets, animation, pre-taped visual scenes and even clay animation.

Award winning Take Off not only entertains, it also informs and inspires its young audiences to explore their own talents and aspirations.
