The Directors is an exploration of the films,
ideas, and motivations of some of the great filmmakers in the industry
today. So often on television, interviews with film directors are no more
than promotional vehicles for their most recent films. Finally, here is
an opportunity to speak in detail about their films. The Directors will
provide a fresh perspective into the rich history, artistry, and craftsmanship
of the movies.
With in-depth interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and clips from
their films, The Directors will build upon the mystique of the film director
- giving the audience a look into the world of filmmaking, with all its
struggles, successes, and pitfalls. The audience will see and understand
the reality behind the film industry, and discover the magic that drives
directors in their lyrical pursuits.
The series delves into subjects not covered by the mainstream medi:
How does a film get made? What are the inspirations behind the script?
What motivates a casting decision? How has the director grown as a filmmaker?
