GOOD DOG

In each of the programs, well-known dog psychologist Dr. Stanley Coren meets people who need some help training their dogs, whether for better behaviour, or fun and games.

Throughout the series, Dr. Coren shows the basics of good training and socialization of dogs. He will be helping people with their dogs' problem behaviours such as barking, chewing, leash-pulling, jumping up, aggression, and housebreaking. Other topics include teaching a dog to retrieve; traveling safely with a dog; introducing a puppy to his new home; handling large potentially dangerous dogs and more.

In each episode, two case studies are examined. Our featured guest clearly states his or her canine's challenges to the camera. Then Dr. Coren meets the dog owners and their dogs at their homes. He examines the dog's behaviour, diagnoses the problem, demonstrates training techniques which will help, often using his own dogs, and assists the dog owners to try these techniques out on their own canine friends. There is lots of action and reality footage - some funny, and all of it informative. To complete the episode, Dr. Coren offers some important advice on dog care and training tips and he tells us how his featured guests have been doing in their training efforts since they last met.

Dr. Coren is both an authority on dogs and a professor of psychology at the University of British Columbia. Until this series he was best known for his internationally best-selling books The Intelligence of Dogs and Why We Love The Dogs We Do.

Good Dog is an entertaining series that both informs and entertains, while providing people with the knowledge they need to enjoy their lives to the fullest with the dogs they love.
